Who says TV discourages us from reading?

Just in case Oprah slacks off, Lost is ready to take the baton. I'm not entirely sure that scritinizing a book for a code that will unlock the mysteries of the Island counts as careful reading, but it's certainly closer reading than my English 102 students were doing.
